Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the new-gen S-Cross globally. The crossover gets fresh styling, new features and mild hybrid technology. The India launch timeline of the 2022 Maruti S-Cross is not known yet but expect it somewhere around mid of next year. The S-Cross crossover will rival the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. Underpinning the updated global Suzuki C architecture, the new-gen 2022 Maruti S-Cross price is expected to start at Rs 9 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).


The new-gen S-Cross takes styling cues from the XL6 with a massive front grille and redesigned LED headlamps. There is a horizontal chrome lining which runs throughout the grillw. Riding on 17-inch dual tone black alloy wheels, the 2022 Maruti S-Cross boasts of new LED tail-lamp cluster. For the first time, the range-topping variant of the crossover will feature a panoramic sunroof. As for the cabin, it gets a revised layout and leather seat upholstery with several advanced features like 4.2-inch analogue instrument cluster with multi-information display, keyless entry, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.


The 2022 Maruti S-Cross also gets ADAS which includes safety features such as traffic-sign recognition, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, Blindspot monitoring, lane departure prevention, and front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree parking camera. Mechanically, it will be powered by a 1.4L DITC petrol motor with 48V mild-hybrid technology. The engine will develop top power of 125 bhp and peak torque of 235 Nm. The 48V mild hybrid system consists of a lithium-ion battery, Integrated Starter Generator (known as ISG) and 48V-12V (DC/DC) converter to power components requiring lower voltage including lights, audio and air conditioning. The ISG acts as both a generator and starter motor while it assists the petrol engine during vehicle take off for a higher level of torque.
